Lets take high school 3200m runners and throw them into the 60m the soonest indoor race we can.

I am one of them. Had a blast. Will break 8 next year!
Aaron ran 8:54 3200m in high school, but I'm surprised he can run 8.25 for 60. Video? Did he come out of blocks?
Hey, why not? Winter is when a lot of distance folks (okay, "some"--more should) work on absolute speed, strength/power, sprinting form, and so on; why not give them a race or two to try it out?
Particularly when many coaches won't let distance runners who raced in November, run distance races in December...
Furman's bush league. Always has been always will be.
Maybe in the spring they won't get dead LAST again in a weak conference.

They actually finished 5th. just a couple points out of 4th.

Because you could pull a hammy. Idiot of a coach- no wonder they under-performed at XC Nationals. You can lure athletes with scholarships and a beautiful campus, but if you have no idea how to coach, the end results speak for themself.
DFL in SoCon!
That would be the women's team. The athletes we are talking about on here are men. Also the women's team won the XC title this year with the lowest score in conference history and the men went 1-9.

4th place 91 points
5th place 55 points
"Just a COUPLE points out of 4th"
2 points = 36 points?

Since this is currently indoor season that is what I am talking about. 4th place 66, 5th place 65! Furman only does distance events so that is a decent amount of points.
Funny you.
Not so funny.
I don't see why not. It can be a good indicator for finding strength and weaknesses. I have heard of a really good coach who has his runners do flying 30s every so often and gets profound results, although i cant remember his name. Not to mention Alberto Salazar had Galen Rupp and Mo Farah do a 100m time trial a while back. If you have good form and you are strong you are probably not going to get injured. Distance runners can sprint (just not very fast most the time)
Their head coach is the most self centered individual i've ever dealt with !
He will never let you even reply to a question, let alone have a thought and express it
HOWEVER
Don't criticize these athletes for thinking outside the box
We all are sprinters , its just a matter of how far the distance runner has to run before that sprint!
Just go tell Mo Farah , or Asbel Kiprop that they aren't sprinters. and they will simply show their global medals and walk away! hahah
So hold your criticism , these young athletes should be encouraged to live outside the box! yes perhaps unconventional , but let them do their thing!

Wow you made yourself out to be a huge f'tard!!! Way to be wrong again!!!

How is this "a couple of points" from 4th?
and over 100 points from 3rd!
They were not, however, "DEAD LAST again" in those results.
And at the indoor championship--which was also plausibly "in the spring"--they were, what, a point out of fourth?
Parenthetically--those results resemble the Ivy/Heps results: dual meet at the top, then a bunch of fill-ins. Is it usually like that in the Southern Conference?
