I'm sure you agree
HAHAHAHA
Word on the street at The Running Event in Austin was that Nike is pulling the plug on NXN
And 'the word' is wrong.
Please, please, please let this be the case. For the sake of all that is good. And right. And not idiotic.

Depends on how you define "best". If you mean best level of competition, then you are wildly incorrect. All of the top athletes were at Footlocker (talking primarily about the guys, but Rohrer is clearly the top girl). If you mean the best meet coverage, then you are correct. For NXN, I was actually able to watch the race and didn't want to kill anyone. The same cannot be said for FL.

"Wildly incorrect?" My intent isn't to start another NXN vs. FL debate and I'm guessing the FL field was indeed stronger, but I'm not sure how it could have been "wildly" better if Hacker placed 2nd at both and Reiser was 6th at NXN and 8th at FL… it would appear that the fields were more similar than people expected. One could argue that both Hacker and Reiser were also at a disadvantage this week after traveling across the country and competing in NXN just a week ago.
I have mixed feelings.
To me XC is a team sport so the way Footlockers has always been set up has always had me a little aggravated.
Up until this year I did not like NXN because of their artificial arena for their championship race. Who knows what they will do for next year. Nike is definately capable of screwing this up.
For me NXN gets the edge but I wish the major players were all together battling it out.

It's the depth of the field.
FL has stars but it lacks depth.
FL is more like an All-Star race.
I'm from NY so I really had little interest in FL.
Most of the top NYers ran at Nike.
As always, I found FL to be far more compelling than Nike.
I agree with the title of this thread and I mean that, including the NCAA and USATF championships. Can we get Nike to do the NCAA meet??
Boy was Footlocker overhyped this year. No?
Hacker got 2nd at NXN, then came back a week later and beat everyone but Fisher at Footlocker! Resier did a comparable job at both races as well. Looks like NXN matched Footlocker for talent this year.
the best national meet of 2014 was US Club XC Nats. NXN is silly and has been since its conception. Anyone but the top few hundred athletes in the nation should be focusing on state and the top few hundred should be focusing on footlocker regionals with a few very elite hs'ers who are shoo in's for fl focusing on that.

And Ostberg, who showed he was better than all the NYers, was merely 9th at Foot Locker, so your boys weren't really missed.
People who ran both
Hacker 2nd (-2s) NXN and 2nd (-9s) at FLN
Reiser 6th NXN and 8th FLN
Veatch 7th NXN and 14th FLN
McNutt 10th NXN and 21st FLN
Did I mess anyone? Seems pretty clear-cut to me.

What is silly about having a HS national championship that recognizes both the individual and team component of XC?
Yes, most high school teams and individuals do focus on their respective state meet, as they should, and the very top teams and individuals from across the country are able to extend their season… what is wrong with that?
You could argue that Club nationals is silly as well. A field of 600?! Most of those people could have stayed home knowing they had zero chance of being competitive.
One could argue that FL is a silly concept… can you name one other XC championship limited to 40 runners? Maybe we should limit NCAAs to the top 10 individuals out of each region.

For those unaware, what is The Running Event, and why would those in attendance be in the know?

Paige Hofstad 2nd NxN and 4th FLN
Footlocker had the fastest three girls in the country, and the fastest girls field as well. However, this was the first year that I thought NxN did well with their meet, and that both can continue in the same manner from now on, and in harmony.
