Mom deliberately exposed us when we were kids, so we wouldn't get the disease after puberty. So now my sister is fighting shingles. Great. Something else to look forward to in my declining years.

Yeah, being exposed to a virus as a kid isn't *all* bad, though--I would hate to have waited past puberty to get HIV.

Having seen children in the ICU die from chickenpox (varicella) complications, I'm all for the vaccine. I had chickenpox as a kid and as another poster mentioned, I can now look forward to getting shingles as I get older.
