I remember him running an underwhelming marathon debut in Chicago last year? What's going on with him now? Still running? I see Solinsky is coaching now.

According to this message board, him, Simon Bairu and Tim Nelson have all retired after an unsuccessful aborted late career in the marathon. But, Tegenkamp may not be done. He may be pursuing his dreams of competing in minor league baseball, only to find out his running tenacy doesn't transfer as well to the pitch. I predict, on the off chance this does happen, he becomes reinvigorated and seeing OTC (now Bowerman) struggling, he becomes motivated to return and comes back out of retirement to light up the American track in the 5,000 meters once again. Around the time of his first successful return from retirement, should this happen, I anticipate that Warner Brothers will work with him on an animated film that mixes fact and fantasy, pitting his 5,000 meter return as having "galactic" consequences. The film will feature cameos by many famous American runners as well as the jock jams in the latest contemporary music styles. The soundtrack will probably go quadruple platinum as well.

People that do not follow the sport will act like he has a chance to make the 2016 marathon team. NO CHANCE.
He probably has not "officially" retired because he still has an active contract. Once he current contract expires and/or gets reduced significantly I'd guess that's when there will be an official announcement.
The real question is will Jerry Schumacher's contract be renewed. I think Teg and Solinski should take one last shot with a different coach.
Do you mean the Shalane Distance Project? Yes, Jerry will be coaching until Shalane is done. NO, Nike will not continue to pay him for a steepler.
What sucks is that people are giving him a hard time like he's a "nobody." Teg was a great runner, and a 2:11 marathon isn't that bad. In fact it's way better than anyone here, and if he could still manage something like that for the trials, he has a reasonable chance. It's not like us Americans are lighting it up in the marathon world.
Imagine at one point having run very low 8 for 2 miles, sub 13 for 5000 and seeing that ability slip by as time goes on. It has to be hard to find motivation to train to run 13:30 now, even though most of us would sacrifice our first born for such ability.

Teg hasn't even come close to Jonesy, who has posted here. Teg hasn't ever run 2:11. His best is 2:12:39
He actually has embarked on a career in porn. Guess what his nickname is?
Off and on injured - which has been the story of his career. He won't officially retire until after the Olympic Trials marathon, or until after he fails to qualify for the Olympic Trials marathon.

Where did all that ability suddenly disapear to? He must have lost confidence? Something is wrong.

A mix of being hurt and being altogether pretty complacent with the career he has had.
It's because he thinks he's an old man. When you think that, you ARE that.

Get real..People who don't follow the sport don't know a Tegenkamp from a concentration kamp...
This year he ran a 1:02 half & a 47:57 10 miler. Don't remember anything else.
