I've been wrestling with a case of posterior tibial tendonitis for about two months now. The injury is not incredibly painful, but I find that if I try to run on it, the situation only worsens.
The most frustrating aspect of my condition is that the inflammation just will not go down. I've been taking 3 advil, 3x per day - doctor's orders - and icing the foot once per day. This is on top of TOTAL rest: no X-training, since I found pool running and swimming to contribute to the problem. Lastly, I continue to walk around in the same custom orthotics that I run with.
Has anyone else experienced inflammation this persistent? Any suggestions for reducing the inflammation? I'd love to be 100% ready to go before I return to training, as I'd like to increase my volume substantially over the next several months.
Thanks!
