The BrosJo,
thanks for the game
378 entries is a fair turnout the contest was only up what 2 days
I fared pretty well this go-around!

same fleaa as AVH? another Buffs vs Oregon battle?
The NCAA contests are harder to play in. The scoring isn't that intuitive and you have to pick 10 deep, men and women. So we never get as many people as with the track contests.
I forgot to enter myself this time around.

I find doing these contests enjoyable. Again thanks for promoting them.
It's a large enough sample size to make the results have meaning.
I spent less than an hour over a couple of days looking at polls, in the know predictors takes (LR included) on the races and refreshing my results reading. It does not take a lot of work to come up with reasonable guesses.
I feel good about my picks
10/10 and picked 3 of top 5 on guy's team scores (not correct order)
9/10 (had Boise State 7th)and picked 4 of top 5 on ladies' team scores
But I must not have saved my women's individual picks because I received -2712 points for that hahah.
My only huge misses on the Men's individual were Rosa (who I picked to get 2nd and looked strong at 8K but faded badly) and Erassa (YIKES!). Did end up with 7 of the top-10 correct though.
I did not have Jenkins in my Top-10...
What am I doing wrong? I cannot view my prediction results. Tried my password and it just takes me to the scoring page not the results page. any help? thanks
Yeah mine's not working either.
this isn't working for me either
Not sure what happened. Rojo just called, complaining he couldn't check his scores.
I fixed it. Should be working again.
Perhaps we need a new way to score the contest. The individuals end up counting way more than the teams. I knew that and tried to pick upsets (Cheserek losing) even thought I didn't think that would happen but thought it would help me win the contest.
Any ideas on a new scoring system??
I entered a team LetsRun.com - those are the picks of the masses. I took the top 10 teams/individuals in the vote totals and entered that to see how it would do as a team. It placed 157th - so right in the middle.
I know fleaa won but i was impressed by second placer hayward101. He picked the top 4 men in order.
1. Edward Cheserek (1) 250
2. Eric Jenkins (2) 150
3. Futsum Zienasellassie (3) 125
4. Maxim Korolev (4) 100
Do we get anymore than "Fleaa edges out Hayward101 as the winner"?
Out of almost 400 entrants, that little of information kind of kills my buzz.
thanks for putting together these contests. they definitely make meets more enjoyable to follow (just like fantasy football does with the NFL).
i thought the scoring was a little screwy because i was getting negative points for correctly predicting teams but being several places off. i would think that it would be fairer to use a scoring system similar to what you use for nats and worlds where you get points for correctly picking a team/runner in the top 10 and then more points if you picked the exact position and maybe less extra points if you are off by a place or 2. the scoring you use for nats and worlds seems to be very fair and easy to understand.
Argh, I accidentally chose Colorado State when I meant Oklahoma State for 4th. That cost me close to 70 points, so I would have been top 10 overall rather than 21st. For the record I did post my prediction beforehand at http://www.ymca.net/blogs/week-runners/ncaa-cross-country-nationals-preview. Not that I'm requesting an adjustment, my mistake, Would be interesting to see who's been most consistent high scorers for all the contests...
that girl from Wisconsin screwed up a lot of Results!
she played possum...and only Sopheeeee
Thanks for the contest, always fun even when I do bad. Like this year.
