Will Clowes win a national championship this year? Or will he keep choking? Other than that DJ will be at the top along with a lot of Oklahoma City guys. Also, Sam Atkin should return for indoor after redshirting cross country.
Its quite amazing that a guy who's run 2:24/4:03/8:04 cant win a single national championship in the NAIA. It will be interesting to see what event he goes for this year, I cant imagine he would have to much of a problem winning the 1k after bringing to bear his new 1:50.xx 800 speed. Looking at last years results,
Roelle, Hans JR Eastern Oregon 2:28.38
2 Espinoza, Josh JR Vanguard 2:29.72 2:29.712
3 Lowrey, Chris FR Oklahoma City 2:29.72 2:29.714
4 Hampton, Nick SR College of Idaho 2:29.97
5 Carter, Dante SO Dickinson St. 2:30.04
6 Brown, Jasen SR Concordia (Ore.) 2:30.51
7 Daugherty, Garrett JR Tabor 2:31.92
8 Blackwell, Robert SO Concordia (Cal.) 2:32.46
Return 6/8.
1 Falland, Louis SR Cornerstone 4:06.45*
2 McLaughlin, Pauric JR Lewis-Clark 4:09.54*
3 Carter, Dante SO Dickinson St. 4:09.57*
4 Godwin, Adam SR Okla Baptist 4:10.16*

7 Brewer, Christian JR Milligan 4:11.68
8 Wardwell, Kyle FR Oklahoma City 4:11.79
9 Pastars, Janis JR St. Xavier 4:13.11
10 Sievert, Benjamin JR Concordia (Neb.) 4:16.17
Return 8/10, most notably though 2014 winner Louis Falland and 2013 Winner Adam Godwin both don't return, this event should be Clowes for the taking assuming he comes in in top shape. Remember last year Clowes fell at the line and if he could have stayed on his feet second was his easily.
Atkin, Sam SO Lewis-Clark 8:18.36*
2 Matko, Csaba FR Oklahoma City 8:20.15*
3 Mountford, David FR Oklahoma City 8:22.32
4 Updike, Isaac JR Eastern Oregon 8:23.70

13 Lange, Oliver SR Westminster 8:53.47
14 Dale, Mitchell SR Olivet Nazarene 8:55.59
15 Milbocker, Ronald SO Olivet Nazarene 8:57.32
8/15 return. Notable Matko Csaba, top 5 at CC last weekend. 10k outdoor national champ, 1500 all american.
1 Flores, DJ JR Eastern Oregon 14:37.53
2 Reyes, Dylan SR St. Francis 14:37.70
3 Gallagher, Ethan SR Olivet Nazarene 14:38.27
4 Koskey, Peter SO Oklahoma City 14:39.56
5 Gomez, Joshua SR Concordia (Cal.) 14:41.15
6 Simpson, Anthony JR Bryan 14:43.34
7 Reidsma, Andy SR Trinity Chr 14:43.35
8 Blaszczyk, Mike SR St. Francis 14:43.57
9 Bowman, Roderick FR Tenn Wesleyan 14:43.86
10 Ehlers, Garret SR Morningside 15:05.22
11 Mullen, Joseph JR Tenn Wesleyan 15:11.70
Return 5 (6?) Dont know about Ethan Gallagher. Have to imagine that if Oklahoma city goes after this event they could do some damage.
Clowes has also run a 14:05 5k, 3:44 1500, and 1:49 for 800. From observing I notice two things: He is a time trialer, runs his best from the front and struggles in tactical affairs. He also seems to peak very early every year whether it be fall or spring.
Having said that. Indoor should be a good showing for Oklahoma City, they seem to be really strong this year and might be aiming to clean up as many points as possible for a great team finish.
OKC DMR is going to be nasty.
SOU has their work cut out for them now that they don't have Avila.
Indoor Men team battle...
Wayland Vs Indiana Tech. Wayland has some guys with weird eligibility from juco transfer, but returns most of its team from last year. Indiana Tech graduates Dontaey Paige and 1-2 others are gone, but should still be in the mix with returners.
Concordia Portland looses some throws points and some of their depth from last year, but with clowes and the rest of the throws squad should be in the mix for top 5.
OBU should be back healthy outside of Kenny Combs and back in the top 5 discussion for the team title.
OK city top 10 team, but with only 5-6 events to qualify athletes in would be tough to crack the top 3-4
Women's team indoor should be OBU Vs Indiana Tech vs a much improved Wayland squad. Don't think I see any other women's teams competing with those 3 indoor. Outside British Columbia will be one of the favorites, but do take a hit with Joy Spear-Chief Morris transferring. Can they do it all 800 on up (and maybe a jav thrower?)
Watch out for Indiana Wesleyan men's top 27 year-old. Word has it that he has been red-shirting for the last 8 years and is ready to give it a go.

Didn't he triple in indoor with the mile, 3k, and 5k? Yeah, I'm also surprised he didn't PR. It's not like running multiple trials and finals tires you in a 3-day span.
Clowes didn't race the 5k in indoors or outdoors... He did however run the DMR in indoors.

I wonder if he feels like he is being abused for points? tripling/quading at nationals is not the best plan for peak performance.
He didn't triple at xc nats and he still sucked there
time to get a marathon qualifier. Top marathoners will be doing the 5 and 10k for extra points for their teams, but we all know where the real action is.

Between him and Hannah Fields (nee Helker), I've never seen 2 athletes who consistently choke so badly under pressure. Their running form went to crap at XC Nationals, and they looked tired. Both are over-raced. It's just as much a problem with the coaching/training as it is a personal defect.
Go to 3:55:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tIgGAJByeFAClowes just ran 13:58 in the San Jose Turkey Trot, with Avila at 14:10. Not too bad if you ask me.

No pressure. Nothing on the line. He ran like a boxer last weekend at XC Nationals. Amazing he can't get it done when it counts.
Yeah 5 days after getting dusted at cross country lets go race an all out 5k...no wonder he doesn't perform at nats

Except Hans Roelle dusted him every time head to head at 800 meters. Hans is a terrible performer at 1500. He is a 1:48/2:21/3:41 guy if he decides he's going to run the middle hard.

Did you just claim that Hans is a 1:48/2:21/3:41 guy? As far as I'm concerned , he is a 1:49/3:49 guy. Not sure where you are finding your facts, but you're only as good as your prs until proven otherwise.
There is a reason on the European circuit lots of pros get bumped into B sections even tho they believe in things such as claimed above "if i decided too i could have been a 1:46 guy". Pro track athletes don't respect that, they despise it. Shut up and do it, don't claim false prs or potential prs. Everyone has the right to claim potential prs, but all it is is just BS.
You either haven't seen him race or you are in his conference and butthurt about losing to him.
Hans jogs until the last 300 and kills everyone. He routinely sits in last and throws down to come into contention for the win. He stomped a 1:48 guy at Cascade Conference in the last 200, outrunning him by 1.5 seconds over that span to break 1:50 on a windy day. Hans is really that good.

This is spot on. No one respects people who have an attitude of "I coulda/shoulda/woulda". You're only as good as your PRs.
Hans no doubt is better than Clowes in the 1000 and anything shorter, but lets not get carried away. He is trash at the 1500 and hasn't touched 3:41 in any of his attempts at the distance. Also Avila wasn't a 1:48 guy at the conference meet, but nice try.
