This winter I took a week off from running after competing in NXR. After the week was over winter basketball has started and the first week just got done today. Our practices are pretty intense and consist of a lot of conditioning. Not running for 2 weeks is really eating me alive right now.
My goals this outdoor track season are pretty lofty. I'm a freshman in high school and want to break 5:10 in the 1600m. I also want to place top 3 at state in the 3200m. My pr in 8th grade for the 1600m was a 5:23.
With basketball 6 days a week I'm hestitant on running. I don't know how to train this winter for track without doing too much too soon. I also don't know how to gradually go back into running. Also, is winter training pretty much like summer training but with less miles if you're a distance runner? Any training plans and tips would be appreciated! Thanks!
