I ran 15:49 in the Michigan State Meet for 31st place after getting beat for the last All-State medal in the last .1. This showed me how much I need to work on speed for track and XC next year since in the past I've been just relying on endurance. I'm wondering what workouts would be good for building this since I feel with the endurance I already have, the speed can really make me fast.
Background: 750 miles over a 10 week period this summer (most 7:20 - 7:30 min/mile) with only 12 workouts over the XC season all longer than 400m. I have virtually no leg speed running 59 and 2:13 this year for the 400 and 800. Endurance is very strong though, I easily ran a 12 mile run the other day at 6:20 pace with 5 miles under 6 minutes.
800m - 2:13
1600m - 4:45
3200m - 9:53
5k XC - 15:49
