Great job to the buffs at NCAA's today but laughable that some predicted them to be the best ever. Not even the best team in the last 10 years.

CU's team was very, very strong. 3 in the top 10 is really outstanding. Of course, this isn't Stanford 2003 or UTEP 1980's, but I think the one or two people who said that just didn't do their homework. I don't think too many people seriously ever argued that.
I disagree. Or I at least disagree that that determination can be made based on this race. I think the extremely slow pace of this race did not let the Buffs show their true strength.
They are a strong team because they can have 5 or 6 guys competing near the front in the fastest races. They have a full team that can compete at the highest level in a tight pack.
This slow pace was definitely the biggest advantage the rest of the field could have had on the Buffs because it allowed the other teams to have smaller spreads as well. Likely Stanford or Portlands 4 or 5th guy's would have been bigger numbers in the back if the pace had been hotter, but the CO 4 or 5 would have still be around the same place. If it had been faster the Buffs would have distinguished themselves. As it was, it was just a sit and kick so it didnt allow the CO team to destroy with their aerobic strength.
They still showed that even off of a slow pace, they could make sure they were in front of everyone else at the end of the day.
The fact that they executed in a race that didnt favor their specific strength showed their versatility, even if it did not allow them to show just how dominate they were.
Mmm I don't recall people saying CU the best NCAA cross country team ever. They are saying this is the best team ever from CU!

UTEP in the 70's and 80's were international Olympic teams , do your home work and read the rosters.

No one predicted that.
A month ago people were asking if this was the best NCAA team of all time. The answer to that is a resounding no. They are a very good team but there have been many teams better that have won and many teams that were worse. The fact remains they got the job done in 2014.
