Awesome.
Really incredible piece. More people should watch this
Wow! That's a great story. Thanks for sharing!
wow
That was an inspiring piece. This may sound a little insensitive but all the dramatics at the end of the race seem a bit much. Im sure she needs her coach to catch her but whats with all the other dramatics like "please please help me....water....help me please." It would seem like she would be used to that happening at the end of the race and would be a little more calm. Not trying to be an ass, just keepin it real.
That was really great!!!
Am I the only one that thought the coach hugging her and kissing her forehead at the very end was super-f*cking creepy? He's an authority figure and she's a high school girl. If she was my daughter I would throttle any middle-age man showing her that kind of physical affection. I thought coaches were fired for getting that close to young female athletes.

you also have to remember if it wasnt for his willingness to train her she wouldnt be where she is today. especially with her condition, you can somewhat understand that through all the trials and hardships there would be a father-figure like bond between them.
Wow! Badass. That takes some courage.
I feel like you could seriously injure yourself running with no feeling in your legs though.. jeeze.

Yes, you are the only one. Twisting something innocent into a disgusting observation I find creepy.
Anybody know if she's going to run in college?

I thought the same. Beautiful, inspiring story, but the dramatics at the end of every race were too much.
great story, but does this happen everyday or just race day?
Thanks for sharing this. It is an incredible story. Made a few tears fall down my cheeks.
Great story. Distance running is already challenging enough.
I also did not fully understand the post-race drama (especially because you'd know the discomfort and help was coming). I know people who've finish races with fractured legs with almost complete stoicism. Also, if it happens after a lot of races, why don't you have water ready??? But then again, maybe I'm missing something.
Saw her race in XC earlier this fall, had no clue what was going on when there was a trainer in the finishing chute waving at one specific athlete to fall into his arms, ignoring another call for a trainer because he knew what was about to happen. Makes a lot of sense now. Very inspiring story.

I'm not the first guy, but really? You don't think it's at least a bit weird how she is saying 'HOLD ME! HOLD ME!'
