I bought a 20-year old house that had a high-end home theater installed in 1996. The setup is...
Runco Cinema Pro Digital 750 projector
555x/575x/595x Boston THX speakers
Kenwood KM-X1 pre-amp and Kenwood KC-X1 receiver
100" screen in a theater dark room
Are today's speakers any better than the Boston THX set? The sound is pretty incredible and I could turn it up painfully loud without any distortion or static.
The projector is another story. The picture is watchable for stuff like "Cars" but with LOTR I could barely see detail. The blacks were more like navy blue. Does anyone have any suggestions for a good HD projector and receiver? How many watts should the receiver have? Do I need an amp as well to get theater quality sound?
