I really don't understand its popularity and am saddened that such a crappy movie could be so popular. No doubt there will be sequels. Please tell me I'm not the only one who thought it sucked.

Nope you're it, the lone hater of Frozen. Please do tell why you despised it so greatly that you had to come onto a running message board to let the world know of your disdain.
Funnily enough, I also saw it for the first time recently, and wondered what all the fuss was about. I thought it was inferior to other Pixar efforts.
The snow glows white on the mountain tonight
Not a footprint to be seen
A kingdom of isolation,
And it looks like I'm the queen.
The wind is howling like this swirling storm inside
Couldn't keep it in, heaven knows I tried!
Don't let them in, don't let them see
Be the good girl you always have to be
Conceal, don't feel, don't let them know
Well, now they know!
Let it go, let it go
Can't hold it back anymore
Let it go, let it go
Turn away and slam the door!
I don't care
What they're going to say
Let the storm rage on,
The cold never bothered me anyway!
It's funny how some distance
Makes everything seem small
And the fears that once controlled me
Can't get to me at all!
It's time to see what I can do
To test the limits and break through
No right, no wrong, no rules for me I'm free!
Let it go, let it go
I am one with the wind and sky
Let it go, let it go
You'll never see me cry!
Here I stand
And here I'll stay
Let the storm rage on!
My power flurries through the air into the ground
My soul is spiraling in frozen fractals all around
And one thought crystallizes like an icy blast
I'm never going back,
The past is in the past!
Let it go, let it go
And I'll rise like the break of dawn
Let it go, let it go
That perfect girl is gone!
Here I stand
In the light of day
Let the storm rage on,
The cold never bothered me anyway!
[Anna:]
The window is open, so's that door
I didn't know they did that anymore
Who knew we owned eight thousand salad plates?
For years I've roamed these empty halls
Why have a ballroom with no balls?
Finally they're opening up the gates
There'll be actual real live people
It'll be totally strange
But wow, am I so ready for this change!
'Cause for the first time in forever
There'll be music, there'll be light
For the first time in forever
I'll be dancing through the night
Don't know if I'm elated or gassy
But I'm somewhere in that zone
'Cause for the first time in forever
I won't be alone
I can't wait to meet everyone! [gasp]
What if I meet... the one?
Tonight imagine me gowned and all
Fetchingly draped against the wall
The picture of sophisticated grace
Ooh! I suddenly see him standing there
A beautiful stranger, tall and fair
I wanna stuff some chocolate in my face
But then we laugh and talk all evening,
Which is totally bizarre
Nothing like the life I've led so far
For the first time in forever
There'll be magic, there'll be fun
For the first time in forever
I could be noticed by someone
And I know it is totally crazy
To dream I'd find romance
But for the first time in forever
At least I've got a chance
[Elsa:]
Don't let them in, don't let them see
Be the good girl you always have to be
Conceal, don't feel, put on a show
Make one wrong move and everyone will know
[Elsa:] But it's only for today
[Anna:] It's only for today
[Elsa:] It's agony to wait
[Anna:] It's agony to wait
[Elsa:] Tell the guards to open up the gate
[Anna:] The gate
[Anna:] For the first time in forever
[Elsa:] Don't let them in, don't let them see
[Anna:] I'm getting what I'm dreaming of
[Elsa:] Be the good girl you always have to be
[Anna:] A chance to change my lonely world
[Elsa:] Conceal
[Anna:] A chance to find true love
[Elsa:] Conceal, don't feel, don't let them know
[Anna:]
I know it all ends tomorrow,
So it has to be today
'Cause for the first time in forever
For the first time in forever
Nothing's in my way!
[Anna:] Okay, can I just, say something crazy?
[Hans:] I love crazy!
[Anna:] All my life has been a series of doors in my face
And then suddenly I bump into you
[Hans:]
I was thinking the same thing! 'Cause like
I've been searching my whole life to find my own place
And maybe it's the party talking or the chocolate fondue
[Anna:] [giggles]
[Anna:] But with you...
[Hans:] But with you
[Hans:] I found my place...
[Anna:] I see your face...
[Both:]
And it's nothing like I've ever known before!
Love is an open door!
Love is an open door!
Love is an open door!
[Anna:] With you!
[Hans:] With you!
[Anna:] With you!
[Hans:] With you!
[Both:] Love is an open door...
[Hans:] I mean it's crazy...
[Anna:] What?
[Hans:] We finish each other's-
[Anna:] Sandwiches!
[Hans:] That's what I was gonna say!
[Anna:] I've never met someone-
[Both:]
Who thinks so much like me!
Jinx! Jinx again!
Our mental synchronization
Can have but one explanation
[Hans:] You-
[Anna:] And I-
[Hans:] Were-
[Anna:] Just-
[Both:] Meant to be!
[Anna:] Say goodbye...
[Hans:] Say goodbye...
[Both:]
To the pain of the past
We don't have to feel it anymore!
Love is an open door!
Love is an open door!
Life can be so much more!
[Anna:] With you!
[Hans:] With you!
[Anna:] With you!
[Hans:] With you!
[Both:] Love is an open door...
[Hans:] Can I say something crazy?
[Anna:] [giggles]
[Hans:] Will you marry me?
[Anna:] Can I say something even crazier? Yes!
+1

Really now? You, a grown man, weren't satisfied with a movie about singing Scandinavian princesses?
Somehow, I doubt you're the target audience.

You are correct, of course. It was still pretty lame.Love conquers all...blah blah. Hackneyed themes dressed up in modern animation techniques. The usual assortment of heroes and villains.
I love animated movies. Toy Story, Up, Happy Feet, Monster Inc... I think that they are all fantastic. Pretty much my favourite movies. I was not able to watch more than 10 minutes of Frozen...
Of course I'm not the target audience of Frozen, but I'm not the target audience of the other movies either.
Sad to hear that an animated movie with strong female characters scares you little boys. Best part about Frozen? My five year old daughter already knows not to fall for the first guy that acts like he's the one for you.
It made me wretch. Why does almost every Disney movie involve a beautiful female princess and a chivalrous male suitor?
I can't watch them either.
Gays and feminists found it empowering. It has princesses. And it had the kind of hype that James Cameron only dreams of.
Objectively, it is not a very good movie. And it's ironic that feminists loved it so much when both princesses had the traditional Disney princess body: Chest and hips and no waist.
Let it go, man.
Let it go.
I saw in the theater with my kids and kept falling asleep.
But Olaf (Josh Gadz) showed up and saved the movie.
Frozen was good but overrated. The pros:
1. Best soundtrack of any Disney movie since The Little Mermaid and perhaps ever.
2. Witty dialogue, which is rare in a Disney flick.
3. Some good action
The cons:
1. The ridiculous feminism. Think about the context of Elsa's "Let it go" - I don't care about the fact that I've sent Arendelle into an eternal winter - what matters is my self-actualization! (Contrast that with Idina Menzel's other big number - "Defying Gravity". In that number she realizes that she cannot stop oppression by working within the system so she chooses to step out of it. That's a form of self-actualization that is in harmony with the greater good).
2. The ridiculous feminism part 2. For a movie that goes to great lengths to show that women don't really need a man, Ana singlehandedly holds up the cliche that women are like monkeys that always need to be grabbing onto a new branch. Literally fifteen minutes after finding out that her fiancee is a sociopath she decides that Kristoph is actually her true love.
3. The complete lack of character development. The most poignant moment in Frozen was in the beginning, when a young Ana sings "Do you want to build a snowman". The characters don't change, we don't change with them, and the emotional stakes do not build with the movie.
Ultimately I think Frozen was a well-crafted bit of fluff. By contrast, Tangled was quite excellent. Rapunzel is a better version of Ana.

Having children has taught me that most Kids movies are actually quite clever stories of the Hero's Journey and personal transformation. In some ways they are better written than adult movies because they are relatively unburdened by the need for explosions and romance.
Finding Nemo is my all-time favorite. Kung-Fu Panda and The Lego Movie are right up there. I haven't seen Up but many people say it's good.

.
The one issue here is that she does not know that she has sent them into eternal winter. She thought by leaving and living alone that she was doing the right thing.
It's a ripoff of the Broadway show "Wicked" (which is better)

The Lego Movie was awesome. Absolutely hilarious. Probably better for adults than for kids.
