I do the same thing except scaled down on both running and stretching. I usually run 3-5 minutes and then stop to stretch 3-4 minutes for my "everyday" run. I don't count that mileage but it isn't much. It might be mental but it feels better and is just a way of starting slow and working into my run.
Agree with this.
I used to go thru a similar warmup routine, perhaps a even bit more elaborate, so that I wouldn't have to acknowledge a snail starting pace, and also thinking that it the stretching whatnot was actually beneficial.
Finally got sick of it and needed to get my workouts done quicker anyway, so I resigned to just skip stretching, slog the first mile in average 10-9 min pace, and then ramp down relatively quickly from there. Never felt better, and much easier to face the daily 6am run.
