I'm curious what people's reasons are for being so staunchly against doping? Is it the perceived danger? The fact that it somewhat neutralizes core genetic advantages? Or just that it's against the rules and is thus cheating (in other words not you're not really against doping per se)?
The only thing that would make sense to me is if someone believes it's interfering with a "God-given talent". So then, it's essentially a religious thing, which is fine. Or for those with "talent", I can see them not wanting to lose their advantage.
Otherwise, I don't really get what the big deal is if pros do it -- there should obviously be steep penalty for supplying/enabling kids up to collegiate level, but someone who gets paid to run? To be a pro athlete is already kind of a dumb and unnatural concept anyway, so why all of a sudden draw a line at EPO?
Note, I'm all for punishing those that break existing rules -- I just think the rulebook itself is illogical, and am genuinely curious if there's reasoning out there that I'm missing.
