Are you running with a club? I don't really see the point of entering club nationals without a club.
To run well of course, just like any other serious race.

Where do you live? Alaska? Why would it cost you over a grand to run club xc nats when you could drive there from california for under $500. Anyways, if you don't live close to the course, the race you want to run is the USATF Open XC Nats in Boulder in February. To everyone else, this is likely a scam. A serious runner would be trying to go to the February 12k not the club race.
Why did that race end on the track? There's grass on either side of the track.
Dude, youre a grown man. Act like one and pay for yourself, not be lsome lazy charity case.
No kidding. I'd like a new car too, can some of you guys help me out???
Typical Obama voter looking for a handout.
The round trip plane ticket would cost just as much as driving from Oregon. That aside, I'm still in college. I work 2 part time minimum wage jobs on top of running. I also did not state that I wasn't going to USA Cross Nats in February. That meet depends on if I do well at clubs, and if it workouts out with my indoor schedule. Club cross nats is also finals week at my school, so I would not have time to drive.
If you want people to give you money to go run a race, you need to pretend you are raising money for some charity. Disabled veterans or kids with cancer are two of the best.
Or, you need a personal sob story. Something about losing your house and your dog in a fire. Or, your father just died of brain cancer and never got to see his one dream in life come true - which just happens to be you running in USATF Club XC Nats. Oh and you maxed out your credit cards to pay his hospital bills. Something like that.
Or you can think ahead and join a club next time that funds its top runners going to club nats. That's basically why these clubs exist, to fund pretty fast developing athletes to travel for meets
This is a joke right? You are f'ing slow. Also you seem like a pretty selfish individual who always has his hands out.

Wait. You have 2 part time jobs and you want someone to pay your way? Do you not understand how ridiculous that is??? Why can't you save some money and pay for yourself?
Get a job. Unless you feel obligated to pay for one of my vacations?

Exactly. Join a club and have them pay for your travel expenses.
Talk to Bowerman AC to see if they sending (and funding) a men's open team. Oregon clubs generally do not travel to clubs when they are outside the western states.
FWIW, airfares from PDX to PHL (the cheapest option) are currently around $386 RT - I just checked for a teammate.
You could also ask around with the Bowerman team to see if you can room with one of their guys.
I think club nationals is a great goal (and a far better meet for the developing athlete than February's XC champs, which are also at altitude, so not great for sea level people), but you should get creative about how you fund it.
Next year's clubs are in San Francisco and might be a lot cheaper, so it may pay to wait a year and train and it is more likely that an Oregon team would travel there.
Correct. Take a look at this guy's scam:

He's changed his twitter handle a few times. It's currently
He posts no truth and people have given him like $13,000
Just pretend you're raising money for your sick brother like this clown
I can't run or have a team pay for me because I still compete in college. Thanks for all the info to those who offered helpful input!
Contributions have doubled since the last time I checked.
