I need a decent winter jacket? Anybody?

Seriously? Under $50 for a winter jacket?

The cost of things might be very different where you live compared to where I live, but I doubt it's that different. Around here, a very, very cheap no-name winter jacket from a sketchy outlet store in the poorest part of town would be over $50 but perhaps not by much. A bottom-of-the-line name brand winter jacket at a low-end mall store or department store would run about $80-$100. Maybe.

A lower-end but decent winter jacket starts at around $150 or so here. Anything involving quality and real warmth is going to be $200+. A good one that you hope to use for several seasons is going to be north of $250.

I understand the thermal layers and all that - I do it, too. But a good long-sleeved thermal shirt is well over $50 alone.

WalMart and Target carry Starter and Champion jackets respectively that should fit your price range. While you're there, get a long sleeve technical top for $15 and ditch the cotton. I ditched cotton as a primary fabric 25 years ago. You can get fleece headbands at either store for $3-$6.

For gloves, try to find a pair of fleece mittens. For some reason, mittens are hard to find outside the women's and kid's products.

You might also try Costco. I got a nice 1/4 zip technical long sleeve top for $16.95. I went back a week later to get a second one and they had sold out and put in something else in that spot. If you have an outlet mall nearby, the Hanes underwear outlet store carries Champion technical tops for less than $20.

WalMart and Old Navy sometimes have lightweight fleece pullovers for $10-$20.

Looks like I would be going to the "sketchy outlet store in the poorest part of town" in your area for a running jacket.

Instead of paying for internet to post on let's run, save your money and buy clothes.

Since when does someone trying to find a cheap jacket mean they are homeless. Besides, you calling me homeless does't match up because most homeless people I see in the major city I'm near have gigantic warm and expensive coats so they don't freeze to death compared to how much money they have and/or spend.

Thanks for the advice was able to get an asic jacket and new balance jacket for under $50 at my local store.
