Thanks for the replies guys. I have bought so many of those Iron Man watches and sometimes they don't do splits.

Some people say that a gps watch reduces your ability to run by feel and effort but I think the opposite might be true. When you know your pace all the time it becomes really easy to judge your pace because you have constant feedback. I can usually guess how fast I'm running within 10-15 seconds per mile.

My reluctance to buy one was definitely due to generally running by feel most days. Didn't want to get caught up in the numbers, as you said. I'd like to think the GPS watch won't change much.
