I got a letter from lipscomb today, and I've never had a great desire to go there, but should I? Does anyone have Expirience with this program/university?

Don't go there unless you are hardcore Christian. I know on the women's side the training is not very good.
I live in Nashville/Brentwood area and i have heard good things about the school. The city of Nashville is an amazing city to live in and especially go to college in. There are great running parks around and plenty of things to do. The school itself usually gets overshadowed by Belmont and Vanderbilt and no you do not have to be a hardcore Christian to go there. I would by all means look into it if I were you.
I'd look at Belmont too if you're interested in going to school in Nashville.
Hey there OP, I was a 4 year athlete at Lipscomb and can't say enough great things about the place. Ignore some of the opinions posted to this site....the work speaks for itself. The women just won their 4th straight title, and the men just secured back/back titles. Quick questions, do you like the idea of making an immediate impact? Do you like the idea of belonging to a community, not just being a number? How about wearing a big 'ole conference championship ring?
If that sounds good, give them an official visit.
Bill Taylor, and his staff, will allow you every opportunity to run faster than you ever thought. Go Bisons.
Weren't they dead last in the men's at Pre-Nats? This is with 2 sub 8:55 recruits from California. Furthermore the women are loaded with high school superstars and yet can't even make nationals. Couple that with the hardcore Church of Christ community on campus and it's a place you want to stay far away from.
Almost 30 girls on their XC roster.
I'd find out how much will you actually travel.
Typically only 7-10 travel each week to the major meets.
They just dominated their Conference. My sister's friend runs for one of their rivals and she says they are a legit program. Great team.

Your sister's friend must not be very good. A-Sun Conference is a joke.
Being impressed by Lipscomb's "domination" means you are very easily impressed
Yes, they have two sub 8:55 guys who are rounding into shape. Yes, they performed poorly at Nat's....one race, mind you.
Your comment about the "hardcore Church of Christ community" is really confusing. Have you ever been there? Over half of the student body, and staff, would most likely consider themselves as fundamentally non-denominational.
No, they haven't made nationals yet. But, their first EVER conference championship didn't come until 2011! Since then, they have rattled off 6 (M&W). The obvious next step is to qualify for nationals, which they will do. Take a minute and look at the South region. Look at the list of big conference schools, and see how monumental a national qualification would be for a small school like Lipscomb.

I bet you don't have any idea of how they train.

Do you mean the training that has nearly a 3 minute average 5k PR rate? Do you mean the training that has 19 minute hs girls running in the 16's? Do you mean the training that has moved the program from a best ever finish of 6th in the ASUN, to four consecutive titles and a top 4 South Region ranking?
Get a life

I ran in college and am privy to Lipscomb's program. I would suggest avoiding going there. "Alumni" (as they claim) most definitely has something to do with Lipscomb and may even be their coach. In fact, I would almost put money on it being the coach. He talks in "motivational questions" a lot.
Find a school where every athlete is happy, training consistently throughout the year and where the team is competitive in their division (at least at conference and regionals). If you truly care about your running career, don't be ashamed to look into top programs at every level (NCAA-D1-D2-D3, NAIA, NJCAA)
As Lipscomb starts to become more and more competitive the haters get louder and louder.
They have a ton of money to throw around and love California guys who've run low 4:1x'/high 9:0x's as juniors...so if you're at good enough of a level to walk-on or get books at a Power Five school, you may very well get a full ride there. Can't comment on their training or development...don't know enough about it.
Just be cautious that the environment is what you want...I know that the school application for employment asks you to deny evolution and declare that you believe in the literal truth of the bible...maybe they don't do this with their students...but just know what you're getting into.
Wow, hard to tell if it is just one person bashing Lipscomb and making up all the lies or if there are a couple of people. Since most of the rips and lies sound the same, it's probably one person.
Either way, it does show that Lipscomb is a threat to other programs. You don't hear about programs that aren't a threat on here. And programs that are a threat, from Colorado to all the top schools or up and coming schools, get ripped big on letsrun.
The people claiming to know how much is spent on scholarships at Lipscomb are just making stuff up. Nobody knows what they spend on scholarships.
The people saying that you have to deny evolution and such are crazy.
Lipscomb is a strong Christian school. If you don't like Christianity, don't consider it. You wouldn't be happy.
If you are a Christian, you probably won't find a better fit.
Academics are incredible at Lipscomb. If you aren't interested in academic success, look somewhere else. If you are, especially in Engineering, Education, Pre-Med, Business, Ex Sci, etc., then look at Lipscomb.
Nashville is one of the top cities in the country to attend college.
Lipscomb Cross and Track are a young and rising power. If you are from a school that is afraid of that, then be sure to post a bunch of anonymous lies on letsrun, since that is the only chance you have to damage them.
If you want a team environment that is the best in the nation, then consider Lipscomb. If you don't care about your team or the environment you are running in, then don't.
If you are interested in Lipscomb, then don't ask on this crazy board of posers. Look up the school website, talk to them directly, look up their results.
Trying to get accurate information on letsrun, either way, is not productive.
OP, are you a guy or girl? Very relevant to what kind of experience the team will be.
Facts:
-The team has improved a lot the past couple years. It's true they have a lot of girls on the roster.
-The girls run a lot of mileage. More than most problems, even if you're coming back from injury. If you are injury prone or not down with that then it could be a problem.
-The school is very conservative. Girls and guys only allowed in each other's dorms at certain times, required to attend church a few times a week, etc.
-You will have a curfew. Yes, a curfew in college.
-They don't have a good engineering problem (nice try, Insider7!)
-The guys just recently started getting good recruits. TBD how they will develop.
-Nashville is objectively awesome.
Also, don't look at Belmont if you aren't going to major in something music-related.
Mileage is not universal in their program. Some run high mileage, some run lower mileage. It depends on the person.

Exactly. Taylor is a class act. Wish my daughter had gone there to run for him..
So I guess the 5 other threads the Lipscomb goobers started weren't evidence enough to these guys that no one really cares about you.... Hooray we won a conference with 5 teams in it for the 4th consecutive year!!! we will be top 5 in a really soft region! Look at me.. LOOK AT ME PLEASE!!!!!!
