Finishing place will have more meaning.

GODDAMN! all abc7 is showing are these hobby joggers and ridiculous amounts of advertisements! Where are the Elites?!?!
A few thoughts. THe last time we saw the elite women, Deena was struggling to keep contact with the lead pack.
As for the white guy leading the men's race, his name is Lars Budolfsen. He's 34 and a 2:17:36 marathoner.
Isn't that amazing? Doesn't he look like a recreational 5ker as compared to the Kenyans?
NBA commissioner Adam Silver is running the first mile of the race as part of a relay. He just asked Lewis Johnson how to pass the baton.
Sooooo glad they took up broadcast time showing an NBA ref blowing a whistle and the commish running with a baton. So important. This is emmy worthy coverage. I bet few runners would have ever thought to show such important footage.
Mile 1: 6:30 first mile unofficial (can’t be right)
Mile 2: 5:34 second mile (12:04 at 2 miles)
Mile 3:4:52 (16:56) 17:31 at 5k
Mile 4: 5:42 (22:38)
Mie 5: 5:36 (28:14)
Mile 6: 5:34 (33:48) 35:01 at 10k. 17:30 second 5k.
Mile 7: 5:35 (39:23)
Mile 8: 5:40 (45:03)
Deba is now leading the pack, which is separated by a few seconds. Goucher still up there three seconds behind Deba. Remember that Goucher's aim is to run 2:28 and they're on 2:27-high pace right now.
They're covering this like it's the Macy's day parade.
What feed we do get seems to be messed up by the windy conditions. This sucks.
WTF is this NBA Relay BS?
Show the GD race!
Unfortunately my boy LARS is seemingly off the pack.

On Eurosport.
The race isn't about he elites until after the race is over. Advertisements run the show.
And I do agree with you, I would much rather watch the race with the camera fully on the front runners. ( and without sound)
However, the hobby runner(s) are the ones that bring in the numbers.
don't think its possible to show less coverage of the race
go eurosport
15;27 through 3 miles
Men's race:
Mile 1: 5:51 (unofficial -mile marker has blown over)
Mile 2: 4:49 (10:40)
Mile 3: 4:47 (15:27)
As for the American women, at 8 miles the order is this:
Goucher 45:06
Linden 45:06
Kastor 45:08
Kleppin 46:04
Bersagel 46:11
Russell 46:12
Looks like that second group of Americans are pretty close.

Nobody turned on ESPN this morning to watch hobby runners.
Yeah, for Kara to stay on a 2:27-2:28 pace would take a supreme effort...and she was calling out the time for a good day...but you never know, perhaps she has more stuffin in her than we realize.
Loving the coverage so far. Excellent views of the Verrazano Bridge. Nice short breakout on the history of the bridge. 30 million rivets in each tower. Who knew?
Great aerial shots of the bridge. It's almost like there isn't a race going across it.
There's another bridge on the course, right? On the edge of my chair waiting for that. Getting my digital camera now so I can snap some screenshots for memory's sake.

Mile 9 is the fastest "real" mile split so far, at 5:29. Kastor is falling off the lead group -- she came through at 50:44 (5:36 ninth mile for her).
