There is a very good chance my XC coaches will have problems at the upcoming state meet if a daughter of one of the helicopter parents makes it that far. However, her coaches are consistently and subtly being undermined by her dad because he doesn't like her coaches from when one of them ran with him in HS. She is not very friendly to them, saying it is because it is her way to protect herself from getting picked on. Like they are the problem here. She is the problem!
We don't want drama, but if she does make it to the state meet (and the team doesn't), then I DO NOT want the coaches to be alone for the week before the state meet. I also do not want her to be allowed to ride over to the state meet with the coach(es). If I talked with the Dad in a straightforward fashion about this, I am pretty sure he would perceive me as being a bad Ad who merely backs coaches and does not know the truth about this family, and I think he would make everyone miserable.
What ironclad excuse could I use to meet my objective of not allowing interaction between the coach(es) and this spoiled child, and yet avoid other difficulties (like the Dad causing a scene when his little princess fails to live up to her dad's unreasonable expectations at the meet)?
