The new Microsoft Band fitness tracker that just came out yesterday has a built in GPS and has the capability of tracking runs and syncing all info to the new Microsoft Health platform.
Is it better than my Garmin Forerunner?

Operating Temperature Range is 14F - 104F.
For that reason, I'm out.

Yeah that seemed a bit odd to me. Does anyone know anything about the band's capabilities as far as laps and splits are concerned?

That has to be the weakest range for any electronic device ever.
Wow, this got me thinking and I checked up on my Nike+ GPS watch and it's operating range is -20C to +60C (-4F to 140F).
What happened, Microsoft?
I realized right after I clicked 'post' that I had flagrantly misused the apostrophe. I meant to type "its" not "it's".

Probably a conservative range. Would I leave it on my dashboard in Scottsdale in July...no.
Microsoft Band is the most compelling smartwatch/running tracker ever released. It's all still bleeding edge, so I will hold off until the positive reviews come in. My biggest concern is durability. I'm still waiting for the watch that has GPS, is totally durable/waterproof, has decent battery life, is reasonable lightweight, is not ugly as sin, shows me notifications w/vibrate from my phone, has sleep and HR tracker, and isn't too expensive. We are getting closer.
Bump

I agree. A device like this is the future. I don't yet think that V1 of the Microsoft Band is the answer, but it is a large step in the right direction.
word up. confirmed not waterproof

"Operating Temperature Range is 14F - 104F."
"Probably a conservative range."
The numbers look they were lawyered. If the device fails because the limits were exceeded then you do not get a refund.
