First American on the podium in NY in 2008 since 1994.
Your point? If Desi or Shalane had run NY before her, they would have been the first.
With the lead pack in Boston in 2009 until the last 800m.
So have several others, but she didn't win.
Won the Lisbon 1/2.
Your point?
Won US Half champs in 2012.
Precious Roy, you're an idiot. Look at the field you bozo!!! Melissa White was 4th!!!! No Shalane, No Desi, hence she wins.
4th fastest all time US marathon (NY debut 2:25)
Who cares, she's never even placed 2nd, not once. She didn't win.
Serious question: What is your PR and do you actually run?
And no, I'm not the OP, but I strongly agree with what he or she posted. Kaar has never won a marathon and won't unless it's a low key one where nobody shows up.
2:47. What is yours?
1. Desi would not have been on the podium had she preceded Kara. Desi was a 2:44 marathoner when she first hit the roads. She did not actually run a competitive race until her sixth marathon. The rest were time trials where she ran her own pace off the lead pack. Shalane's debut was at a painfully tactical NY where she ran a 2:28. It is not a given that she would have been on the podium at a faster race at that point in her career.
2. Desi didn't win. Is she a joke? Shalane did not win. Is she a joke?
3. Lisbon is a major international 1/2 marathon. Kara has multiple 1:09s and a PR of 1:08 with a 1:06 at the Great North 1/2. Her PB in the half is faster than Shalane's.
4. She blew away the competition by almost a minute at the US half champs in the middle of a build up for the 2012 Olympics. She ran another 1:09.
5. Belittling a 2:25 debut on a difficult NY course with no rabbits just shows that your critique of Kara has nothing to do with running. It is just your dislike of her personality and out of competition self promotion. But you can't make that criticism because it would just reveal that you feel threatened by women and have to put down any kind of expression of empowerment or femininity that you don't understand or relate to.
I think that Kara's Oiselle stuff and weekend retreats are silly. But as a fan of the sport, I would never put down Kara's substantial running accomplishments just because of what she does after she crosses the finish line. That is just being juvenile.
