He's back in Virginia finishing his degreee
He found out there's no money in this sport.

If a runner is a head case and consistently underperforms, or goes straight to the back and finishes dead last, then I can see why there would be no money available.

This. His tactics just suck. If he could get a decent coach to get his head into races he could have a career. Racing the way he does, he is a disappointment.
Like to bump this to hear his plans.
Where is he training, who is coaching him, still with Adidas, still with Ray Flynn?
Gags is a great coach. I used to think he had a few bad breaks but not so sure any longer. He also needs to watch is calorie intake.
He needs to lose the NJ guido thing too....that gets old very quickly.

How do you go about doing that?

Whoops. Posted that before realizing it was 2013, not 2014. Yeah, wonder what's up with Robby.

I thought the same thing when I saw Robby racing as a professional. He was much leaner while at UVA. Diet and mind need to get in check.
For anyone that really cares, Robby is a Health & P.E. major at UVA. I imagine that when he's done running he'll probably try to get a job as a gym teacher...
So training group/coach?
hes training to beat bob kennedy in the marathon next year
He's 23.
He has plenty of time to get ready for 2016 and beyond if he does what he needs to do starting now at the latest.
He's a strength-based 800 runner and a miler with good speed.
His ability to succeed in this sport depends on the quality his aerobic base, which he apparently got away from somewhere in the last few years...

He is NOT strength based. If you watched his Driven series on Flotrack, his training consists of like 2 2-3 mile runs a day at like 8:00 pace. He tried to run the first 5k of a 10k at 30:00 pace with some Princeton guys and couldn't even make it past two miles.
If anything, he needs some strength work and mileage to both trim down, and get sharp again. He needs to do more Nick Symmonds-type training. The kick will always be there, he needs to make sure that he stays in the race to use it.
He needs a coach to put some pressure and expectations on him.
Needs to meet daily and be on a schedule. Gags would be great, but that group is too big and they don't meet very regularly. Robbie isn't driven enough for that sort of setting.
Does anybody know who is coaching him? Father?
