Gaucher, Flanagan et al spend 2-3 days doing media appearances while the Africans sit on their ass as no one is actually interested in them. There are very few exceptions to this rule, I can only think of one.

Has been for a long time. Sick and sad.
This thread simply demonstrates how stupid the average person is, and how gullible they are to believe absolutely anything they are told, by government or by any bogus medical type of authority, of course they are much the same thing.
The Ebola fiasco is another great example of this.
wait, I thought testing doesn't work. And urine testing REALLY doesn't work.
Isn't that the stance of clerk and others? I might be misattributing.
I 100% agree and have modified our article on her positive test to reflect that sentiment:
http://www.letsrun.com/news/2014/10/report-rita-jeptoos-sample-tests-positive-banned-substance/WIth the WMM ceremony later this week, I sort of get the release of the 'A' sample but dont' like it. More important to me is the type of doping involved.
We've added this paragraph to the article:
I was recently talking to an anti-doping expert and he was saying, "the public doesn't get it. they hear postiive test and freak out. I dont know if Asafa is a doper or not but there is no way he'd be taking the drug he tested positive for - that was simply a contaminated supplement."

and your reponse in that post simply demonstrates how much you revert to overly cynical and negative views of your fellow man.
average person believes absolutely everything! Everything! cause NYC absolutely shut down durign the ebola thing - i mean, subways empty, buildings empty, schools empty, no one on the street but zombies and thrill seekers - I mean you should have seen it - total panic and belief in the apocalypse.
Dallas was the same - I think people evacuated, causing traffic jams 12 miles long.
Yup. Those dumba$$ people - they are sheep and believe the crazy!

Drug testing doesn't work at anything worthwhile or useful.
It DOES work at:
> promoting the drugs;
> increasing the prices of drugs;
> increasing the profits of drug companies
> increasing the authority of medical quacks
> making stupid people sound intelligent
> creating divergence amonst the populace
> creating opportunities for accusatory abuse
> opportunities to ban people for no reason at all
> opportunities to create innuendo and false accusations
> creating of positions and alphabet agencies that do nothing

My fellow wo/mans would agree with me.
I think a cynical look is good, seeing the truth as opposed to burying one's head in the sand, or rolling over with one's paws in the air. Whether this is negative or not depends on the intention and opportunities that are missed.

well put - agree across the board. maybe some day there will be a rational approach to the regulation of PED use, but that day isn't today.

please explain what you mean in light of how testing has caught many drug cheats in the sport.
unless you are advocating legalization of PEDs - if that is the case I have nothing to learn from you.
Well put. It's very frustrating to see this news but have so few details.
I don't get why everyone is speaking about blood doping. There was no mention about what kind of ilegal substance they found. It might have been something officially banned but totally useless which she took inadvertently from some pills or so.
This is a serious bust. Not a TUE, cold remedy etc etc. Someone needs to find Federick Rosa in NY and ask the questions.

Which goes to show ~ that we're on the right track.
What is the T-L for in the table of Jeptoo's record?
Whatever the case, I think her record is fishy for the following:
Most marathoners make their breakthrough in their 3rd, 4th or 5th races, and
7 years is supposed to be the optimal window of attainment in the marathon. Not 10.
It's a very atypical profile and bio.

How rare is it to run a sub 5 minute mile AND bench press 225?

Red Bull (who sponsors Mondo) calls Mondo the pole vaulting Usain Bolt. Is that a fair comparison?
