Where's the confidence? Where's the fight? She basically admitted defeat before the race even began, sad for American women.

There's nothing wrong with anything she said. She knows what she's ready to do, according to her training. She says the real goal is trying to make the next Olympic team. Would you rather she just be another big talker with nothing to back it up? There's too much of that bullsh_t in other sports, and there's too much of that bullsh_t on this forum by know-littles and know-nothings.
On a more positive but more shallow note, she's still a beautiful woman.

really, moran?
you are sad for humankind.
because no one should be honest - they should be full of bluster and hot air. Like you.
I find this interview much better than the silly crap that spews from the lips of Shalane. I am going to win Boston because it means so much to me. I am going to set an American Record in Berlin. She makes me want to throw up in my Corn Flakes.
This is funny to me. If she came out confident saying that she was going to contend for the win, people here would be all over her ripping her to pieces. Instead, she is realistic, and people do the same.
Go Kara!

Exactly. I for one appreciate her realistic outlook. Just because she thinks she won't win doesn't mean she isn't going to go out on the course and run as hard as she can.

Stupidest thing I've read all day. Yea, it's just awful that she was honest about an ambitious goal, worked her butt off training for it, then fought like hell on race day. You probably expect a medal after completing your local 5K too.
I can respect Kara being honest but I'll take Shalane or Desi's attitude any day.
DUH!!! She has to have a realistic outlook...do you think she can win??? Name me one marathon that she's ever won, just one? You can't. She couldn't win NYC or Boston in her prime so who would believe her if she said she could...you?She's there to market herself and her sponsor, get used to it as you're going to be seeing her at a lot of races pushing the clothing line.

True dat. She's never won a marathon, so why would she think she could win now? Marketing=$$$$
Boulder+Wetmore=Unknown Factor
Go Kara!!!
Unknown Factor? Wanna bet? Goucher isn't winning anything unless it's a local race.

Wanna bet, better then you think
Oh yes the Wetmore factor, mimicking red neckedry, riding around on a four wheeler, and wearing a camo jacket.
ummmm, you forgot the pony tail
then what the hell are you talking about as I don't get it either? 8th place, is that what you mean? amazingly impressive
