I have a MS in a life science and like what I'm doing now alright. I think I'd really like to teach though. However, I cannot deal with problem students and students with learning disabilities. That's not their fault; it's just not within my abilities to handle them and still do a good job (or be happy). I've found that I actually really enjoy teaching when I'm working with students who are advanced and actually care. I've thought gaining a M.Ed. in gifted education might help me get a job teaching gifted students exclusively, but I'm not sure how much that will actually help since I will have little actual experience. I was hoping people here could comment on how the hiring process works where they are when it comes to gifted and talented education, if credentials are a big consideration or if experience and seniority is more important. What's it like in your area?
