Greetings LetsRun
I started developing heel pain back in January. I ran through it (~70 mpw plus numerous 5k/8k/10k races) until late August when the pain go so bad that I had to stop altogether.
I wear the strassburg sock every night, I roll on a golf ball 3x a day, and I go to PT 3x a week for ultrasound and electric stimulation on the heel. I haven't run in 2 months now, and I'm still feeling a fair amount of pain in my heel. I can walk fine without a limp, but the area towards the back of my heel (on the bottom of my foot) is still very tender to the touch and it gets very sore after being on my feet all day (I'm a first year teacher adjusting to a new job).
I haven't taken this much time off since I had a stress fracture in 2006. I tried to run last week and walked home after a little less than a mile. I'm dying to get back out there and I'm wondering if any long-time PF sufferers have any advice. I got an MRI about a month ago to rule out a stress fracture, and it came back as moderate plantar fasciitis (as expected). I'm starting to consider getting a cortisone shot, but from what I read, it does not work the majority of the time with PF.
I'm open to any and all advice. I'm dying to get back out there.
