Praise Allah.
Neither. Gas prices have dropped because production is up and the summer driving season is over. Production increases have largely been on private lands and not government leases.
thank your armed forces
Thank fracking and the world recession. And Obama, always Obama.
Thank the upcoming election. Prices should begin rising the day after---$3.50 by Christmas. Fill up soon.
I've heard some interesting theories that Saudi has opened the spigots on purpose to drive down the price of oil - for several reasons:
1) kill off Iran and force them into a nuke deal
2) stop the fracking revolution
3) slow russia for some reason I am not completely clear on.
Add that to an economic soft patch and the us energy boom, and oil has fallen 25%.
I'm not usually a conspiracist, but OPEC actually IS a conspiracy and Saudi is in a serious fight against Iran and trying to get the upper hand is not wild speculation.

But politicians and their minions take credit for low gas prices all the time. So I HAVE to be able to credit one of them, right? Also, John Kasich tells me in his adds that his leadership has led to a falling unemployment rate here in Ohio and Obama takes credit for that too. To whom do I give the credit?
(I hope you realize I recognize that neither gets the credit...I am in fact poking fun at politicians and their minions who believe their party is the greatest while the opposing party is filled with idiots).
You can thank China, the EU, CAFE standards and George Mitchell. China is working through a real estate bubble and a failure to stimulate internal consumer spending. The EU is paying the price for failing austerity and currency/central banking policies. Finally, George Mitchell is the father of fracking. US rig count quadrupled from the time fracking came on the scene. Finally, the new CAFE standards for US autos have made the US fleet of vehicles more fuel efficient. Enjoy it while it lasts. A half decent economic recovery will send oil to $120 a barrel.
Thank the Ohio State Buckeyes whose fans are once again not driving across the country to see them play for a national title.

but we HAVE a half decent economic recovery, yet oil is at $88
Thank American innovation and technological superiority. That is, unless you're Venezuelan (those guys are in for decades of pain). Never bet against the red white and blue.

This. Remember that Reagan did the same thing when he conspired with the Saudis to raise production and drive down the price in an effort to hurt the Russian economy which is heavily reliant on oil sales. Now Obama and the Saudis are after Russia and Iran.
is $2.69 in VA
That's because no one wants to live in Ohio.
El nino
The only person you should thank is George P. Mitchell, the inventor of fracking.
This price reduction is actually bad for the frackers. The price of oil is getting closer to what it actually costs to frack it out of the ground. If the price continues to drop, fracking sites will shut down. And they're very expensive to restart.

Ha ha- everyone (with a brain) knows that the politicians have nothing to do with oil/gas prices. But, I have a bunch far right, nutso, freako, facebook friends who would blast Obama every chance they had over the high gas prices.
Now, silence. Wheres the praise guys?
