I am a pretty bad heel striker and my stride isn't very efficient, from pictures I can see that I over reach quite a bit to the point that i'm in the air for a very short time. What are some ways to improve my running form?

Lead with your knee, not with your foot. In other words, don't reach out, let your foot fall "naturally" under your centre of gravity.
Pick your knees up.
Run more on grass.
Skip for height.
Practice running downhill striders on a "mildly sloped" stretch of road at least 200 m long. Focus on keeping your "up-right & balanced posture" and try to lean as close to being perpendicular to the hill's grade as you can ( again these strides should be on a mild grade). Now your strides should feel short and fast , the goal is to learn to plant your feet under your hips and then use a "push-off stride". I have explained this as a "plant/push" mindset. Once you get used to this shorter and quicker feeling it needs to become your focus All the Time ! Good luck, this is as much of a mental barrier( need to focus on every single stride) as it is a form adjustment for you.
Push your hip and torso forward and be arrogant in your form. That will make your foot land straighter under you and you will probably stop heel striking
Two things I've been into lately that might help you are to (1) develop that push behind you, which comes from the glutes, and (2) think of your big toe being the last thing that leaves the ground, like you're leaving thumb prints on the ground. When you stand up on the balls of your feet as high as you can, can you get on the inner ball of your foot? It's that feeling I have been going for. That's what I've heard from people who seem to know what they're doing. Oh, and your foot should be landing so that almost immediately it's behind you and you're launching off from it.
I recommend focusing on your hands and arms. Move them faster through a shorter distance and your turnover will go from the 160-165 steps per minute you are doing now to 175-180 steps per minute you should be doing.
