Two in state national champion caliber programs and she chooses Georgetown.

Great school, good location, plenty of good places to run, consistently successful top level program...
What's not to like?
Interesting decision, especially considering that two schools within 90 minutes of her. Those two schools being Michigan and Michigan State. Michigan has just as good if not better academics than Georgetown, and I would safely assume that both options would be cheaper than that of Georgetown.

There's a huge difference academically between large Big Ten schools and a Jesuit college like G'town. MI and State may also be out if scholarships with as successful as they've been
Michigan and definitely not Michigan State can compete academically with GT.
Michigan can compete with Georgetown academically. From this post, it is ironic that you are speaking ill of Michigan State, because you clearly went there if you are this stupid.
Michigan and State are good schools but both have 30,000 more students than Georgetown. There are fundamental differences between these two types of schools and you can't like them both.
Yup, a matter of personal preference. Huge state schools close to home vs a smaller private institution away from home. Two very different experiences. Congrats to Audrey!
I think you hit the nail on the head here. Both in state programs had money and both had her at the top of their recruiting boards.
If she has aspirations of working on The Hill this was an excellent choice.
This is a kick in the balls to Mike Mcquire. MSU was never in the hunt. Actually the most impressive part of MSU is that Drenth is doing it with kids that were ignored coming out of HS.
her dad went to Georgetown. relax kiddos
Stanford was hot on her too. So two Georgetown alumni were recruiting her.
I had her pegged for Michigan, but Georgetown (or Stanford) makes sense. Based on what I know about her, she didn't really seem like the MSU type. She's talented, but also highly trained and relatively high mileage.
Any word on the other top level girls in the Midwest? It's an especially strong year in Michigan.
Congratulations to Audrey on her choice. Her college choice is what SHE considers the best financial, academic, spiritual and size of school opportunity for her.
She has been looking at schools for over 2 years and each state school was given plenty of consideration. MSU backed out early in the process. Michigan was her last visit. Along with Stanford and Georgetown, Virginia was heavily considered with a visit as well. Many other excellent schools sat in the family living room through the late summer, making it a difficult process.
While many may think the parents directed her...Dad was a graduate of MSU while Mom went to Michigan. She made a decision that was best for her. Having her closer to home would be easier for the parents to follow her college running career.
Her fall times reflect the college considerations and fitting in her college visits around a running schedule. She is talented and driven to be her best. She also is a better person than she is an athlete. She maturely chose a situation that she felt would enhance her best progress. Her best is still ahead of her.
Audrey typed that ^^^^
It was written by Pat Davey or Crazy Nancy and and anyone closely involved know this to be true.
She is leaving the State because there are too many hanger on types here.

Crazy Nancy, what truth.
Maybe she just wanted to get away from Michigan winter running to a place where the weather is better year round. Finding great academics as you move south is difficult. Gtown is a great fit
