A friend of mine recently asked me for help with an injury suffered running. The symptoms sound a lot like Patellar Tendonitis or otherwise inflamed tendon. However there are some inconsistencies:
1) She runs very infrequently, and the injury occurred on her first run after a couple weeks of rest - not a stress injury.
2) There is a small, hard lump in the area of the pain (this is the part that I have never heard before).
Is this something that anyone has experience with? Something to be concerned about?
Other (potentially) useful info. The run was 50 minutes on a paved, hilly course, while a normal run for this person is on a flat, soft course.
