For the past week or two i have really been doing badly at running. I lost to 5 people on my team i usually beat at a meet, i dropped out of a 2 mile time trial because of exhaustion, and i get tired really easily on runs for some reason. Is this burn out? if so, how do i get rid of it?
You may be suffering from iron deficiency or another sickness that causes extreme exhaustion, such as mono. It would be best to go to the doctor and get some blood work done to see if it is something physical - if it is mental, you just need to relax and enjoy the sport
Have you been overtraining yourself? Have you been leading most of the interval workouts, racing against your teammates in a workout and expecting to beat them in a race? What have you been doing for the past two to three weeks?
Did you run during the summer, and if so what was your mileage and workouts ( long runs, threshold/tempos)?
It could be that you are overtraining your self rather than burnout, as burnout is usually when you hate running. You could be both.
If you are being overtrained, cross train for a week, and get back in to running easily.
