This is amazing. Not quite as cool as Alex Van Halen's kid running the steeple at CU, but still an awesome running/music family connection.
and here's some Bruce:

Didn't know that about BH, and the legend grows.
I am too lazy to look, but I wonder if his kid runs XC as well?
Correction....BH did not play D1 hoops, though he was recruited out of hs. But another son is playing on the LSU hoops team.
Thanks for clarifying.
I don't know why I find this so interesting, AVH at CU wasn't a big deal on these boards, but I think it's cool/rare for children of famous musicians to run D1.
I'll start following this kid, hopefully he can get his 800 time down a few seconds, it would make for an interesting story at the trials. Also, I wouldn't mind seeing BH cheering on his kid in Eugene.

Actually, it might be a lot cooler. Bruce is a legit artist that is unfairly labeled as a one-hit wonder.
This is the first time I've ever felt compelled to support an Oregon athlete. Bruce Hornsby rules
I'll agree with you, Hornsby > VH, but VH were not a one hit wonder band. They had multiple platinum and gold selling albums. Also, they're still touring, and with Diamond Dave back in the lineup they are raking in millions per tour.
Hornsby is amazing though, and I give him the nod.
To the other guy, I also don't root for the Ducks, but I will be rooting for this kid.
I saw Bruce Hornsby play this summer with Pat Metheney. I had not paid much attention to the guy's career but he put on a good show and he gets instant credibility for sharing the stage with Metheney.
Ive heard his dad has been out of his life for the most part.

I started a thread on this before. Its a joke this is the song Bruce is known for. Mandolin Rain, The Valley Road, Every Little Kiss, and I could go on, are far far better.
Radio sucks, Bruce rules. #1 Bruce in music.
Is this the first you first grade idiots knew of this? What grades are you in? Did you just start running? Bruce Hornsby played at concert at NCAA finals in 2013.
What difference does it make when you learned about it?
He has gotten 1.3 seconds better at Oregon
He totally ripped off Tupac.

Thats's just the way it is. wrote:

I sat next to Bruce Hornsby at one of his son's meets at Hayward. Bruce Hornsby has attended many meets and also performed the national anthem at NCAAs.
Bruce also one of the most down to earth "famous" musicians in the world. He is a really unassuming, normal person and plies his trade these days at festivals, both big and small with a wide variety of music.
Some may remember Bruce's previous connection to the track world with his friendship and musical mentorship of W&M grad and pro Matt Lane down in Williamsburg back in the early 2000s.
I assume he has good Range.
His other son, Kieth is a heck of a b ball player
