My dad is 77 years old and runs 30 miles a week. Never injured, running daily since the mid-1970s in Wisconsin. Over the past 5 years, his pace has slowed considerably. He currently trains at 10:30 pace, a few years ago he was 9:30. His weight is the same as 55 years ago (125 lbs...height shrunk). My question is... did any of you elderly gentleman runners ever experience such a drastic slowdown in your training pace. It worries me a bit, running gives him purpose and meaning. Health issues with his wife (ALS) are making things difficult.
