Flat, fast West coast courses with perfect weather. Meh.

No doubt a track race, the course is 1k loops. The Bay Area has much more to offer than that crummy course but it is fast no doubt. A shame they went away from crystal springs.

As for San Jose State, the new coaching staff is doing a great job there. Crummy part of town and no real place to run from campus, or even a legit track for that matter. But they are a short drive to some great runs if they take advantage of that thing. (I was always amazed at how my college coach was unwilling to drive to local trails and just send us out on the roads).

Anyways, it is nice to see "speed city" start to rebuild. They already own a couple track and xc national titles from back in the day. It would be nice to see them get relevant again.

I just went on SJSU web site and Bradley Wick is a coach. I can assure you I did not know he was a coach when I posted my original post.

The fact is SJSU has improve from last year.

I ran at SJSU from 1980 to 1982 after transferring from San Jose City College,

I have followed the running scene since. Being an American of Mexican descent I am really proud of young Mexican runners. That is why I'm very proud of Gonzalez.

Most of these boards know I am a great fan of German

Fernandez.

So what ever your issue is with Wick, please make sure that he is posting, not someelse.

Last, if he is the coach responsible for SJSU improvement, then he should be very proud.

So, if a freshman improves, then it is the result of his coach in college or does the high school coach get some credit as well?

I think we need to see what this guy does before we establish credit.

I hope Josue Gonzalez from CIFSS finds consistency next year in the mountain west conference.

Yes they do.

To bad Josue Gonzalez developed a foot injury and did not run as well in the last two meets. But he took it for the team, ran in those two meets, as SJSU only had 5 runners.

This is why he ran subpar the last two races. From SJSU web site.

"Josue had an unexpected injury pop up this week," said Wick. “Today, he just could not brush it off, but he still wanted to give it a go. Ben ran really well today, he has had such a huge improvement. Also, our freshman Craig Huff did really well.”

You can look up any school you desire here. San Jose State has a very small operating budget, so they likely don't have the fully allotted number of scholarships.
