I know you are suppose to get the title, are they suppose to sign it over to you?
Am I suppose to sign it.
I know you get the bill of sale,
If a car already has a tag, that is not out of date, am I suppose to take it off and get a new one?

If you want a bank to provide financing and you want the dealer to spend even a moment of his time with you, the most important thing for you to do is to be a white man. If you are you are brown or black, good luck getting so much as a passing glance from anyone involved in the process.

Not true.
F&I managers at dealerships want to make money. Mr. White with strong credit and the ability to get his loan from his own bank will get the "buy rate" deal and the dealer will get the little flat fee from the finance company. In and out quickly.
Mr. Brown with slow pay and charge offs will allow the dealer to jack the rate over the "buy rate" and make a few points of interest. They are also more likely to buy the croak and choke insurance, extended warranty, rust protection, etc. Selling that crap takes a lot of time.
I'm buying a used car from a private owner.
Ideally, meet at the MVA, DMV, whatever you call it, office and do the deal there. Otherwise get him to bring it to you then he takes his tags and the check. You get the car and the title. Both get a bos. You need your own tags, get a lift to the DMV and obtain. Be prepared to pay tax, reg fee, prove insurance.
Also, make sure there is no lien on the car or be prepared for addl hassle.
So I went to buy the car today, and the guy didn't even have the title. Saying he needs 100$ to get the title, why the does he need 100 dollars to get the title unless it is at one of those title loan places.
