I want to see Wetmore's cross country training log
Is there anyone(alumni) willing to sell the training diary?

I could, but a lot has changed since I ran. Furthermore, you wouldn't be able to replicate the elevation, courses that we ran, and camaraderie we had during fast and slow days which would have a huge impact on your training and it's effectiveness.
I dont mind I just want to take a look at it and see how he does it

Now what you need son, is a copy of Running With the Buffaloes. Closest damn thing you'll get to a training log without viewing the real thing.
I have that, but it doesnt have the details. Anyway if someone willing I would pay for it if I need to
Thanks
What are you talking about Joe?
It's extremely detailed. No other college coach would do that.
People get crazy that Wetmore has some magic formula--its not that----people point to his development of guys like Theroux---certainly an accomplishment--but people need to remember that only people who really want to train hard in college would go to Colorado---he gets 9:20 type guys who really want to improve--so there is a lot of selection bias in Wetmore's magical development of 9;20 guys into 13:45/XC AA guys...
A fair number of top guys go to Stanford/Ivies and "burn out"--but what really happened is that the guys arbitraged the admission process and really didn't want to run in college but leveraged their sub 9:00 HS time to get into a better school----there are a lot of 9:30 types on this board who can't imagine running 9:00 and effectively walking away, but it happens all the time...so the higher "failure rates" at places like Stanford are not a function of bad coaching....so its not necessarily true that Wetmore would kill it at Stanford...and a 9:25 guy goes to Stanford unrecruited, got into Stanford without any boost from the athletic department, and likely doesn't even run for the team since they realize they are number (40) on the preseason depth chart......
Wetmore is a great great coach maybe the best. However, this notion that he gets 9:20 type guys is a total joke.
Saarel- 4:03? 8:45? Arcadia champ
Moussa- World Cross in high school? 8:49 and like 14:02? Arcadia champ
Morgan- Penn Relays 3k champ
Pierce Murphy is from some stupid place like Hawaii where no one would run fast
Theroux went to a sprint school
Hurysz 8:49 Arcadia champ, 4:06. Top 5 at Footlocker
1:54 relay, 9:13, 1:55 at his state meet. It is true about his sprint school.
Did Wetmore do a great job? Yes. Is this kid really talented? Yes.
Wetmore gets 9:20 guys. You just picked the guys that ran faster than 9:20. Idiot.
Wetmore is a liberal piece of trash.

who are all these super 9:20 guys scoring points for Colorado? Tell us their names and what terrible high schools they came from... I'm sure they let a 9:20 guy walk on occasionally if they were really good in cross or came to the sport late or something.
There was a website called runwiththebuffs.com (or something like that) that came out around the time of the book, maybe 2000. It had a few training logs from top runners at that time. I know there was one CU guy(Slattery maybe) that shared a detailed log.
I've never been able to find a record of that website anywhere.
9:20 guys from altitude are not 9:20 guys, idiot.
Also, I just ran down their roster of really talented guys. These are the scorers on this awesome team we are talking about. You are the idiot.
RWTB gives detailed workouts. Other coaches have done as well (Dellinger, Lydiard). For most people, you will exceed your work ethic and ability to improve before you encounter limitations of a training program. The one limit of a book like RWTB is that every year Wetmore is making changes/improvements based on his new knowledge, last year's results, the current team members, etc.
"An Honorable Run" is another good companion book to RWTB.
I walked on to the team for a hot second back in 2006-2007. It's really straight forward training. No real ridiculous workouts you see like NAU's Lumberjack. Just long aerobic thresholds and straight on intervals of varying lengths.
Long runs were the main emphasis. And it wasn't surprising to see most guys, even the guys like me who didn't have half a chance traveling to big meets, running six minute pace for 16+ miles at places well about 7,000ft.
Also, we smoked a lot of pot.
You didn't say anything about this year. You said there's a notion out there. Notions are built overtime. That's because Wetmore has taken more 9:20 guys and done well with them than any other top 10 type program. Portland comes to mind as well.....
Are there 9:20 guys scoring for this team? No. Have there been 9:20 guys who became absolutely studs. Most definitely.
A good portion are altitude boys for sure. I won't argue that. Not all but some.
I'm not going to name them all. You are lazy and making generalizations to defend yourself.
Here's a hint. Next time you're looking for 9:20 high schools guys - maybe don't like at just the "really talented guys". Idiot.
RIP: D3 All-American Frank Csorba - who ran 13:56 in March - dead
RENATO can you talk about the preparation of Emile Cairess 2:06
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
Running for Bowerman Track Club used to be cool now its embarrassing
Hats off to my dad. He just ran a 1:42 Half Marathon and turns 75 in 2 months!
