hamstring injury, please help narrowing it down

hi,

one month ago I ran an all out 200 in a track workout of 800s because i got pissed about missing my splits. Something popped in my left hammy and I couldn't walk straight for a couple of days.

Now I only feel it when lying flat on the floor and pressing my heel into the floor with flexing my knee. And - sometimes when straightening the leg.

Can anyone tell me what this strain i named? What muscle? How to fix it? Tips & tricks beyond just rest. I feel like walking is really detrimental to recover from this..

You obviously haven't had a hamstring injury. It's like tearing your Achilles or Plantar fascia, except the muscle is 10 times bigger. More debilitating and difficult to get over than stress fractures.

It sounds like a small tug. Not a tear or anything, but a minor strain. It isn't anything too be worried about.

Just stay off full sprints or anything that makes it hurt for a week.

You obviously haven't had a hamstring injury. It's like tearing your Achilles or Plantar fascia, except the muscle is 10 times bigger. More debilitating and difficult to get over than stress fractures.

The Achilles and plantar fascia are not muscles. Muscle tears are much easier to recover from than fascia or tendon tears.

Of course- tendons attach the muscle to the bone, but the force generated by a tweaked/tight hamstring muscle ultimately causes the tendon to pull on the bone and can lead to hamstring tendinitis/tendinopathy (wraps around the knee, pelvis, or both). Plus, being a large muscle that generates significant force makes it significantly more painful than Achilles/PF issues (which I've had the displeasure dealing with). I've personally torn both the hamstring tendon directly and tweaked the muscle belly-- the muscle belly tear was significantly more debilitating because the muscle loses it's spring and ability to generate power, and then like I said it can cause the muscle to pull on the bone, creating 2 significant problems.
