Looking to do a marathon after I graduate college but the one I'm aiming for occurs very soon after the outdoor season will end. I am not planning on altering my training at all to accommodate the marathon so I want to see if anyone has had success/failure with this and how feasible this is.
My training has weekly 20mi long runs during base phase and 16-18mi long runs during the bulk of the season, slightly shorter in the taper. Long runs are usually 7:00 pace but I've dipped down to 6:40 without much stress. 10k training includes a lot of 12+mi progression runs, long fartleks and track workouts at 10k goal pace with little rest in between. Weekly mileage will be 95-110 during my base phase in the winter and lower by the end of the season. Looking to be in low-to-sub 30 min range which is a reasonable goal.
If I'm in 30min 10k shape, with a good base of long runs and workouts, what can I reasonably expect to run for a marathon? I think the toughest part will be turning around mentally and physically for a marathon after a long collegiate season, and a taper designed for a 10k
