For anyone who ran the Columbus Marathon. How did you like the new start/finish line area compared to previous years? Thanks!

Pretty terrible in my experience. I ran the marathon, so I came in when the hordes of half marathoners were finishing. I had problems with finding family with the terrible congestion (as most everybody did) and as a result was probably pretty close to hypothermia after wandering around forever with nearly no clothes.
To me, it'd be an easy fix for next year. Simply shift the start/finish over to Spring Street. That way, not everybody (runners and spectators) will be forced to one side because of the river. Arch park was literally being used for nothing on Sunday, which is a shame because of all the potential space that could have been used to ease the congestion.
What was the point of changing the start area?
Was it to fence the entire area in so everyone had to go through security checkpoints and have their bags searched?
Was it to keep everyone without a bib out of the area?
There was some confusion because it was everyone's first time. The start line was about 100 yards west of where I thought it was, so I had a hard time getting around the grandstands. When I finally figured it out I felt stupid because it was obvious.
The laser show and music at the start line was brilliant.
The finish was crowded compared to other years when we emptied out into that big grassy area. I was glad I didn't have a family waiting for me because it was too crazy.
Overall it was a great race experience. I've run NYC, Boston, and others.... the total Columbus experience is as good or better.
It was changed so that they wouldn't have to completely move everything right after the race started. Having a combined start/finish is much easier.
They also had everyone go through a check point before going into the corrals to make sure everyone had a bib. Bag checks were before that point. From what I've heard, bag check was a disaster. I have a friend who had to wait 50 minutes before his bag was found.
