My ortho diagnosed me with a femoral stress fracture in early May (based on symptoms). I used crutches, was non weight-bearing for weeks, etc., then slowly eased back into a walk/run program.
I finally started running again after 12 weeks. There was a small amount of discomfort at first but the leg felt fine. I eventually made it to about 30 mpw until a bit of tendonitis in my other foot slowed down my training the past few weeks.
A few days ago the supposed stress fracture site started to twinge after a run, but it wasn't enough to keep me from running the next day. It was during that run that my leg began to feel weak and eventually a bit achy in that same very small area. I took the following day off completely and did an easy spinning workout today without any lingering pain.
It seemed like the injury had completely healed and I'm beyond frustrated that the same symptoms are creeping up again. I'm hesitant to spend more cash and time to visit the MD and was wondering if anyone else on here has had a similar experience. I should also note that calcium and vitamin D levels are excellent and that I've been distance running for the past several years without injury.
