Must I repeat again . . . it's FREE! And whenever it's not free, ignore it. It's my gift to the LRC community. If you don't want to check it out--and let me repeat that it's FREE--just ignore it. But I believe you'll like it if you pick it up. Thanks for the interest.
I disagree. But I have also "peddled" other authors works on LRC, including Pete McGill's "Build Your Running Body," which is a must-own for every runner (and Pete has peddled it on here, much to my delight since I might never have heard of it otherwise), and Timothy Tay's outstanding memoir, "Wannabe Distance God," which is, in my opinion, much superior to any other running book out there when it comes to universal appeal, genuine angst, and humor. In fact, the mods have a thread peddling Tays' book right now, or haven't you noticed? Pick up my book while it's free. You can look it over and immediately trash it in your recycle bin, but at least don't refuse a sincere gift from another runner who loves running as much as anyone on this forum. I promise you that you'll be able to relate to so much in the book, PLUS you'll be able to see into the heart and soul of Shawn H, the so-called "nutjob" who often posts here. I may have a sharp, sarcastic wit, and I may bug the hell out of you with my opinions, but one thing I'm not lacking is knowledge and sincerity. Thanks for at least being interested enough to check out my thread.
Those are sponsored ads for Tays. That you compare yourself to him and Pete, that you describe yourself as having a sharp, sarcastic wit, is laughable.

Nope, I don't compare myself to Pete or Tays. Their books are superior. But their books aren't FREE. Comparing myself as a writer to Pete, Tays, or Dr. George Sheehan would make me look like a fool, just as comparing my own competitive experiences to Gebrsellasie or Bekele would be ridiculous. My book is entirely different. If you took your best life-long running experiences and could write them down with any kind of skill, you would have MY book. Read it. It may be my book, but you'll find yourself in it. Let me repeat . . . it's FREE, starting tomorrow. Read it, and you will know exactly who you are talking to when we meet again on this forum. Thanks, Sean.
I'll check it out. Can't be worse than these boards.

Hahahaha! Thanks, functionally literate. I hope people on these boards--including the mods--get the humor and false bravado. It really isn't fair that I'm out here on a limb as a writer, a runner, and a person on these boards with no false identity. My book is who I am, guys, not the guy you see on these boards. I put my whole self into it, good or bad, strong or weak. That's what writers do--even self-published ones like me. I think it's safe to assume that most of the people who also come off as asses on these boards would be really nice in person, and if we were all the right age I'd probably really enjoy being on a cross country team with most of you.

The problem is that in order for the book to be available for KDP Select and Kindle Prime members, it has to be exclusive to Amazon. Kindle Prime members pay a fee to Amazon periodically so they can download an unlimited number of books or other available material AND so the book can be "borrowed" by one member from another. If I take it off KDP Select, I can then publish it for Nook. I may do this in the future.
However, I believe that there may be a Kindle app, even for Nook, but I'm not positive since some companies (like Apple for example) have proprietary programs in order to make you by THEIR products exclusively.
Now, let me emphasize something else that I previously mentioned: An e-book opens up a lot of possibilities that traditional hard copies don't. My e-book has internet hyperlinks. While the whole book can be read without any internet connection, if you do have an internet connection you can click on a hyperlink that will take you to places on the internet where you can find additional photos, articles, videos, other book links, etc. So e-books can be interactive. The advantage for writers is that hyperlinks simply direct you to an internet address where other content can be found WITHOUT putting that content in the author's own work--it's already on the internet. For example, there's a section in the book that talks about Tirunesh Dibaba, arguably the greatest female distance runner of all time, and the included hyperlink takes you to a video of the women's 2012 Olympic 10,000 meter final, where you can watch Dibaba run. That's just one hyperlink. But remember, if you don't care to break away from the book and pursue other links, it's not necessary. The book stands alone. From time to time I check all the hyperlinks in the book and make sure they lead to active content. Check it out.

This may help. A Nook is really an Android device, and you can "root" it to be able to read Kindle books on it like any other Android device. There's a link in this article on how to do it. But if you don't want to bother with that, you can easily get the Kindle app for any PC, Android tablet, laptop, cell phone, etc. You can easily read Running: A Long Distance Love Affair on the PC you're using right now.
