Sup LetsRun, alright so I have a big meet on November 8th. It's a very hilly course(frogtown) if you've ever heard of it but anyways it's my sub-section meet in which I quaify for sections then state. I live in California and am a junior. My 3 mile pr on a flat course is 16:00 but on a hilly 3.11 mile course in Folsom, California(Bella Vista Invitational) is 17:24. Not the time I wanted, really wanted sub 17. Anyways, for my sub-section meet on November 8th, should I run as many hills as I can? Or should I taper the week before? I always take the day off before a big race or I'll run an easy 20 minutes to get the nerves out. I also need to up my speed. I'd say my 5k pace is at 5:20-5:25 but I want to run faster for my big meet. I'd like to run 5:10 pace but is that not enough time to up my speed that much? If you can, could please list a workout(s) that'll help me up my speed before this meet? I'd probably run 17:25 if I ran the course right now but I want to run under 17. All advice is appreciated, Thx :).
