what type of training does it take to run 2:30 for 26.2?
Lots of "types." Every athlete is different and responds differently to the same training. How YOU respond to training has to do with your background and existing condition; your age; your genetic predisposition/physiological makeup; your gender; your diet; your sleep patterns; environmental factors such as heat, cold, and humidity; and of course the biggie...your motivation. It's essential to individualize training as much as possible.
Figure out what sort of training you enjoy (it'll help keep you motivated) and how you respond to it and other types of training. Then figure out what the race requires of your training as well as which race is best to meet your goal.
If you're currently a 3:30 marathoner, you've got your work cut out for you. If you're a 2:31 marathoner, you've still got your work cut out for you.
