Gillis too far out for the record. Close to PR though.

Gillis with a PB (2:11:22) but over a minute away from Drayton's Canadian record.
Gutsy run for Gillis running alone for the the last 12km.
Seboka is looking really strong. 2:15:27 at 40km
Lanni is fading a bit.
Seboka 2:23:14
3rd win this year! (Daegu and Dubai)
Marchant has the most garbage stride I've ever seen.
2:31:05 for Lanni
Looks like Wiebe and Watson dropped out before 30k.

Watson said on Twitter that he dropped out at 25k, blaming his hamstrings.
That was just about the best on-line coverage I've ever seen of a marathon. Constant focus on the leaders (men, women & top Canadians), in the last 50 minutes there was one 1 minute long shot of the masses. Imagine if Chicago had been shown like this, there might be a bunch of kids wanting to be top marathoners now.
Heh. Check this result link. Click on the 'leaders' tab and filter by M50-54. A few course cutters in the mix? Methinks.

Ignore that. There were entries with low times and missing splits and it looks like they've already been removed from the results list. Sportstats didn't take long to filter them out.
All those Canadian guys are trying too hard for the record. They are trying too shave seconds off when they should be trying to take minutes off. They have huge abilities and should have easily cracked a 2:07 or 2:08 by now. By trying too hit the record so precisely each time they leave themselves no margin for error. They should just get caught up and race for a change. Get out of their comfort zone early so they can get up the road floating behind a pack rather running solo the whole way. Run with a group and get 2-3 km further up the road - who cares if you bonk harder.

I worry about her overdoing it, this is her 32nd marathon at age 30, good personal best today though.

I certainly wouldn't go that far. However, I've not seen an elite runner who looks more like she's running 8 minute miles, when at marathon pace. It's got to be one of the fastest shuffles out there.

Wykes - injured
Coolsaet - injured
Watson-not recovered from pacing Flanagan
Gillis - ran sub record pace and still partially bonked
Wiebe - 1st marathon

Throwingstonesfromaglasshouse thinks that taking a few seconds off a record is harder than taking several minutes off. Solid logic.

I hear what you're saying but Coolsaet did go out at 2:07 pace a few years ago and damned near sh*t his pants.
Wiebe - lingering training injuries.
Just making it to the starting line is hard.
Is this the course for Panamerican Games next year? How fast it could be in mid-late July?
I've seen guys puking in a Aug marathon in Toronto in the
70's.
