Friends, my wife and I just returned from a month in Thailand. While there, I had a wonderful, relaxing time running in one of my favorite places on the dirt roads beside the rice fields. I also had plenty of time to think and make a decision I've been postponing since July. After self-publishing my book, Running: A Long Distance Love Affair, on Amazon.com on July 6, I thought I'd see how it was received before introducing it on a too often divisive, critical, and sometimes insensitive forum like LetsRun.com. I hoped to get a few good reviews, and fortunately I got just that: a few good reviews, even though one of them comes from my own son. I guess it's hard to put so much of yourself into something because every one of us, whether we admit it or not, fears negative criticism from our peers. You are some of my running peers. Some of you are new to running, some of you are older veterans like me, and some of you (like "Malmo") are former world class runners who have pretty much seen and done it all when it comes to running. But as the legendary Bill Rodgers said in an interview a few years ago, "We're the same. We're all blood brothers, all us runners." In that spirit, and hopefully the indulgence of Wejo and Rojo, I'd like to share my own running story with you, if you're interested. It's a very personal, revealing story. It's a universal running story. It's a love story for all serious runners. Take a look with Amazon's free "look inside" feature. The book is cheap, but the memories and life experiences have been invaluable to me. I hope you like it.
