I have PRs of 52.6 for the 400, 2:01 for the 800 and 4:33 for the mile. These were all set a year ago. Since then i sort of had a year-long break from running but decided to start training again a month ago. Ran a 2:04 for the 800 a week ago on my first race back.
I have a new coach who doesnt give me much endurance work so im hardly hitting 10 miles a week. He thinks im more of a 400/800 guy and wants to work on my speed but im doubtful considering how everyone says mileage is important for the 800. Is it possible to be a good 800m runner on track intervals alone without good mileage? What would be a reasonable time for me to aim for this season?
