And complained to our boss about it as she took it that I was being very rude, hostile, and condescending by not writing like a teenager on facebook. This person also referred to me with nicknames every time rather than my actual name, which I also find unprofessional, and she got angry when I asked her to call me by my given name. She made a VERY big deal about all of this and even said she didn't want to work with me any more. Unfortunately, our boss is very laid back and wishy-washy, so my boss took a very middle-ground on the issue and said the problem was essentially both of our faults and was the result of a "personality difference" rather than anything else. I find this to be ridiculous and a disgrace, but I pretty much kept my mouth shut about it as I'm trying to be professional.
I'm wondering what the people here think about this and if it's acceptable to put exclamation points after every other sentence, use "haha," "LOL," etc, and one or more smileys in every email. What do you think about all of this?
