With all the hype out there about Sasquatch (also known as Bigfoot), I am curious to know if any of you trail runners have either seen one while trail running or perhaps had the feeling of being watched or followed during a training run in the woods. I personally had two such experiences, so I can only imagine that there must be others out there with a story to tell. My first experience happened in the Midwest (in the early 90s) while running alone along a forest path. I had the sensation that something was moving with me roughly 60 yards inwards. It was as if whatever it was, was trying to run parallel to me. It ended when I crossed a major road. The second time was actually during the Vineman Triathlon in Northern California in 1997. After existing the Russian River after a slow swim (I am a bad swimmer) I found myself more or less alone on the bike. You have to climb at first on some fairly narrow but paved paths until you hit the main roads. I felt something off to my right shoulder and looked back to see movement behind me as if it was chasing me. It scared me so much that I put on a full sprint on the bike to get out of there, and even had the sensation that it might try to pull me off the bike. Despite being on a bike, I did not have the feeling that I was easily pulling away from it. So, I am either delusional or perhaps there is something out there. I am hoping naturally for the latter.... am I alone with such experiences?
